May the Lord be with you and use you all mightily.
May you hear His voice clearly every day on what He has for each of you to do.
May your trials all be to the glory of God and His will.
May those that will witness you on this mission not see you but Christ through you and may that light of Salvation shine brightly in you.

Hi everyone back in the United States. We are spending a few hours at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Our group photo was taken last night before we left from Seattle. Can you tell who is not real in the picture.

Oh that was easy... it looks like Johnny Depp put a ball cap on and snuck in at the last second near the top of the group.

It's great to hear from everyone and to know that you are all praying for us. It's Sunday morning and we are going to church at 8:00 and then we will do the bible school. After that we will go do our government project, which is decorating a kindergarden class room. Besides my bout with food poisoning, everyone is doing great and we are having a wonderful time. We all miss our family and friends, so keep blogging, we all love to hear from you.

Hello All From Vietnam
We just finished with the Bible School, wow! What an experience. The kids were amazing, laughing, singing, having a great time learning about Jesus. It was great. Sorry I did not have any pictures to post on the bible school, will try to post some tomorrow.
Decorating the schoolroom was not like anything we had imagined. We traveled back into the mountains of the island to this small one room building. The only thing on the wall was a communist flag and a picture of Ho Chi MIn (which we had to leave up), very few supplies and a lot of smiling young faces. It seemed like the whole town had come out for the event. The teachers and the town officials welcomed us and thanked us for all we were doing. It was an experience that moved all of us on the team. Even though we could not share Jesus with the children, I know that He was with us and touched some lives while we were there.
There is so much work here for Gods people, and we are just beginning to open the doors.
Thanks for all your prayers, and keep on praying.
Jerry

Hello Again From Vietnam
We visited another kindergarden school that was built by REAP International. The children are always amazing and touch all our hearts whenever we are around them. The teachers are also so grateful for our help. This is helping to open so many doors into Vietnam, and there is such a need help all these children. The rest of the day we spent traveling back to Saigon. And we finished off the day with a quite exciting scooter ride to the restaurant for dinner. Thank you for all your prayers and encouragement.

Hello once more from Vietnam
What a morning. We went to the deaf and blind school this morning. I am still thinking about it at 11:00 tonight. Those children there are the most inspiring kids I have ever been around. With all the adversity and trails in their lives, and yet they still have the greatest smiles, laughter and love in their hearts. I am sorry, it is so hard to tell what I felt today on the blog. When we get back home you will be able to hear whole story. After the trip we went out and ate Pon (I probably did not spell that right), anyway, it's kind of the national dish. Then we were off to the airport and on to Hue. What a beautiful city. We are off the orphanage tomorrow. Another fantastic day here. One other note, if anyone would like to come to CSI tomorrow morning at 8:30 Canyon building room 119, we will have a video connection from Vietnam. So you will be able to see and talk to the team members. Try to make it if you can. God is so wonderful and his love everlasting, He is my lord and savior. Keep praying
Jerry

What a wonderful time at the orphanage today. God just blessed our socks off! Every child there was such a shiny star for Jesus. You haven't heard sweet music until you hear a Vietnamese child sing Jesus` name! To Ollie and Laura I was able to deliver to package to Thuyet spelled her name wrong sorry)for you and she is a DOLL! She loved the scarf and showed us how to jump rope. On the bus she took my camera from me and thought it was the greatest. She took many pictures. I really think that she would have fit into my suitcase just fine. I have many pictures for you of this precious (and all of them) child of God.
We were able to buy all the kids shoes and backpacks and fill them full of candy. This was beyond worth all the long hours, flights, and lines.
God Bless you all for keeping in touch and keep on praying.

Jerry, you da man (and Bob at CSI)!! Thank you so much for allowing us the video feed this morning (evening for you). What a blessing to see all your wonderful faces and sometimes even be able to hear your voices (even though you were all mumbling, ha ha) - the feed was a little garbled at times, but hey that's ok we are all a little garbled at times. That's why God is so awesome, he unscrambles us. I think I saw on ESPN this morning that Kevin (a.k.a Shaq Buddha) was possibly going to play center on the Vietnamese National basketball team, is it just a rumor? Hope you guys were able to feel a little bit of the love and prayers for you on the video feed this morning. My prayer for you all is that you continue to surrender to the Lord's will in your life. Libra - Will & Tim would be proud of you, Travel the Road baby. Love you lots, oh and Frankie and Lucy Lu miss you to.
God Bless y'all,

Hello Everyone
It is our last day in Vietnam. Yesterday we flew from Hue back to Saigon, and then we went to the Vietnam War museum. Wade Franks, one of the vets with us, was sharing his experiences with us and how God is using him and what he went through here to help bring the word of Jesus to the world. If you get a chance go to web site missionvietnam.org, and there is a link to his web page where you can read some more about life and work. He is an awesome servant for the Lord.
The rest of the day we sent relaxing and shopping at the local market, which is quite an experience in itself. Then we all went and had a wonderful last meal together here in Vietnam.
In a few hours we will be staring our journey back home. I am not looking forward the all the hours in airports and airplanes, but I am looking forward to seeing my beautiful wife Becky and son Matt and seeing everyone in church on Sunday. It has been a such an unforgettable experience and will take a long time just absorb all that we have done here.
I am sorry I did not get any pictures posted yesterday. My camera broke and didn't have anything to upload. Leslie and I will get together later today and post some more, so keep watching. Please pray for a safe and comfortable journey home.
Jerry

Rewind to December 16, 1967. As I walked up the steps of the 707 and looked back at the Vietnam landscape, I said out loud, “There is no way that I will ever come back to this God-forsaken place”. I had spent the last 365 days in that country and I was ready to go back to the “World”.
Fast forward to January 2008. I had a dream that I was handing out cards to a large crowd of people and it was very urgent that they each received one. The cards had a series of numbers, 2 sets of two numbers and 2 sets of 3 numbers. A few days later, I heard about the Vietnam mission and wondered if it was part of this prophesy. I prayed about it and asked God if this mission was for me. I also prayed that if it was, then the doors would open to let me know. The doors swung wide open. I believe that God had chosen me to go back to Vietnam because there was work to be done. Then the spiritual attacks started. There was a time or two when I just threw my hands in the air and said, “I’m not going”! Then Donna and I would talk and pray about it and the attacks would subside.
Even after the team left for Vietnam the attacks weren’t over. When the plane started descending near the Vietnam coast, I started getting flashbacks from 1967. I thought to myself, “It looks just the same as it did 40 years ago”. I had flown on more than 100 missions over this part of Vietnam during my tour. I could even smell it before we landed. When the plane landed in Saigon, I found that I couldn’t get out of the seat. I just sat there for several minutes, staring out the window. I then heard that still, small voice saying “Get up Jim, I have work for you to do”. I answered back, “I’m just a nobody truck driver, what can I do?” “You’ll see”, the Voice said.
Was it decorating the kindergarten on Phu Quoc? Was it playing with the kids and taking their pictures? I know I was blessed when a little girl named Bam and her younger brother Lu asked to see the pictures I had taken. She recognized the picture of the church and said proudly, “My church!”. She then asked me hold out my hand and placed a small beaded bracelet in it and said, “For you”. I couldn’t hold back the tears. Maybe it was handing out candy and stuffed animals to the kids at the deaf and blind school at Bien Hoa. Maybe sharing a lunch of steamed rice with the orphans in Khe Sanh and buying them new shoes was what I was there for. How about on the flight from Hue to Saigon when I was sitting next to a Vietnamese businessman and he asked what I was doing in Vietnam. I told him, and he asked, “Why would you come all the way from America to do this?” I replied, ”Because we are Christians, and that’s what Christians do”. His nod and smile said it all. Will I go back?
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me'" Isaiah 6:8

WOW, here it is 5 months later and I'm re-reading these blogs and i'm sobbing like a big baby (as usual,I was the group cryer while there). I always say God gave me tears for a reason and I USE them.
Jesus has led me to go to college so i'm now in my 3rd semester and LOVING it I might add. I had chosen Early Childhood Education as a major although my heart wasn't entirely in that field I knew I was being led to college but wasn't totally convinced the ECE is what I was being called to do. After going to Vietman I am now CERTAIN what he has led me to do.....Communications. Being in Vietman, a severly deprived country according to any USA standard. To me, everything about it screamed HELP!!!! In one of my classes the topic of advertising came up and I learned that McDonalds spends 10 BILLION dollars a YEAR in marketing and advertising. I got to thinking about how much good could be done in ANY third world country, not just Vietnam with even just 1 percent of that kind of dough. That really "'hit home" for me. I am now convinced that the Lord has led me to the communications field to eventually help raise money for third world countries. I know there are many, many people that already do this but there is still such a need. All of these people need Jesus and I want to help in ANY way I can to make sure EVERYONE knows the sacrifice he made for all of us how much He loves them.
Blessings to all. Love, Rene'
